Dad • Public Servant • Your Neighbor
I was born right here in Georgia, but due to my dad's job relocations, I spent most of my time growing up in Aiken SC and Hendersonville NC. A few years ago we moved back to my wife's family (Kim is a Georgia native too), and now we are proud residents of Woodstock, Georgia. This is where we have chosen to build our lives and raise our three children, ages 17, 14, and 10 all of whom attend our wonderful Cherokee County (CCSD) schools.
My commitment to public service isn't just a choice; it’s a family tradition. Growing up with an aunt who served as a police officer and a grandfather who was a dedicated firefighter, the spirit of "service above self" was instilled in me early. My parents modeled this through their own deep involvement in the PTA, Scouts, and local sports.
I began my own journey of volunteering as a teenager delivering meals with Meals on Wheels. That path eventually led me to 22 years in Scouting, where I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and later completed Wood Badge leadership training. Today, I continue that dedication as an active volunteer leader in Scouts BSA and within our schools, serving as Vice President of the ET Booth PTA and on the Etowah Spirit Wear Committee.
Education and hard work have always been the pillars of my professional life. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from American Military University and went on to receive my Master’s in Business Technology from the University of Georgia in 2020. Today, I put this education to work as a cybersecurity engineer-a career where critical thinking, attention to detail, and protecting vital infrastructure are required every single day.
Currently, I serve as a Senior Application Security Engineer and Team Lead for a Fortune 500 company. In the world of cybersecurity, success depends on more than just technical knowledge; it requires the ability to build consensus across different departments and solve complex problems to protect people and infrastructure. This is the same analytical, security-focused energy I will bring to the Board of Commissioners ensuring our county is protected, efficient, and working for its citizens.
When I’m not focused on community service or my career, I enjoy the simple things that make life in Georgia great. You can often find me working on my cars, cheering on our local football and baseball teams, or enjoying the quiet beauty of our mountains through bird watching and camping.
I am running for the Board of Commissioners because I believe our community deserves a leader who listens, builds bridges, and puts the future of our families first!
The values I bring to the table—every single day.
I believe in listening first, finding common ground, and delivering results that actually matter to the people of Cherokee County.
The same commitment I show as a Dad and neighbor; that's what I'll bring to the Board of Commissioners. No shortcuts, no excuses.
My career has been about bringing different perspectives together to solve real problems. That's exactly what our district needs.
A track record of real work, real results.
Years of commitment to public service organization that help communities raise children and build stronger families.
Steven's 20 year career in IT, including leadership roles in cybersecurity, has given him a deep understanding of how to protect our community's data and infrastructure while fostering innovation and growth.
Steven moved to Woodstock and dove head first into the community; volunteering to be a Scouts BSA leader and an active member of his children's PTAs. He's a neighbor who knows what families in this district deal with every day.
Steven's career has been defined by bringing together different perspectives, departments, customers, and companies to find effective solutions that work for everyone.
The get to know me a little better as a person.
